truckers are bad drivers

smiths inc out of Mitchell chipped my windshield in 2 places this morning also chipped the paint on my new car. happend on 231 going to Loogootee. why dont truckers care that they do these things?

I think it is unfair to generalize. There are some truckers who care about these things, it just so happens that the one encountered was one that didn't care...sorry about your car though.

First off, how do you know he didn't care? Did you stop him and ask him about the situation? Are you sure that your windsheild got chipped as a result of his driving, or was it a case of you following too closely?

The law in every state in the U.S. says that road debris being kicked up is not the fault of the driver/owner of the vehicle that kicked it up. Maybe that's why he didn't care, because the law says it wasn't his fault.

Now, had the rock (or whatever) fell off of his vehicle and then struck your windshield, it would be his fault.

Either way, there's one sure way to make sure you don't get chips in your windshield from rocks.....follow at a farther distance. It just may save your life next time, not just your windshield.

P.S. What if a truck driver came to your job and criticized you because of something he was doing wrong or that you had no control over? Truckers deliver the food you eat, the bed you sleep in, and the caskets you'll be buried in. Give 'em a brake.

rock DID come off the truck. i watched it fall. as with my job good luck getting on a military base!!!! you would be shot. and i wish more trains would deliver goods. truckers are always in a hurry and are very careless. by the way my job helps the war fighter which gives you your freedom.

So you were following closely enough to see a rock fall off of his trailer and then hit your windshield. Just like I thought, you were following too closely and you just admitted it, but you're too stupid to even realize it.
Truckers brought you the guns that you supposedly protect us with. You're probably a weatherman for the air force, a real tough guy.
